Cucumber cultivation has been common in West Asia for more than three thousand years. Perhaps one of its signs is the fame and age of our favorite food and cucumber among Iranian people.

With the production of 1.7 million tons, Iran is the fourth largest cucumber producer in the world. China’s production is 61 million tons per year, which is the first producer of this product in the world. Russia produces 1.9 million tons and Turkey 1.8 million tons of cucumbers.

In 2020, the global value of cucumber exports was about 3 billion US dollars, and in the same year, Iran ranked 22nd in the world with exports of about 10 million dollars. About 80% of the world’s cucumbers are exported by Spain, Mexico, Holland, Canada and America.

The main export destinations of Iranian cucumbers are Russia and Iraq, some European, American, Southeast Asian and Persian Gulf countries.
